Mock My Ad is a Chrome extension by Programmatic Soup that helps users preview uploaded ad creatives inside detected ad placements on live web pages.
Data processed locally
Mock My Ad processes the following information locally in your browser:
- Uploaded creative files, including PNG, JPG/JPEG, zipped HTML, MP4, and WebM files
- Creative filenames, file types, file sizes, and validation results
- Video metadata such as dimensions, duration, browser compatibility, and aspect ratio
- Active page URL and page structure used to detect likely ad placements
- Selected ad slot details, such as slot name, size, type, and confidence score
- Preview settings such as fit mode and mock label visibility
- Visible-page screenshots downloaded by the user
- Rejected-file details such as filename, size, type, rejection reason, and timestamp
Uploaded creative files and related metadata are used only to validate the creative and generate the on-page mockup preview. The extension does not automatically upload creative files, screenshots, page content, or browsing information to Programmatic Soup.
Page access
Mock My Ad runs on web pages where the user opens the extension and uses its features. The extension scans the active page locally to identify likely ad placements, draws visual outlines, and injects the uploaded creative into the selected placement for preview purposes.
Mock My Ad does not use page access to build browsing profiles, serve targeted advertising, determine creditworthiness, or perform unrelated tracking.
Local storage
Fit mode and mock label preferences are stored using Chrome’s local extension storage. These preferences remain until they are changed, the extension’s local data is cleared, or the extension is uninstalled.
Creative and placement information may remain temporarily in browser memory or in the modified page until the preview is cleared, the page is reloaded, the tab is closed, or the extension popup is closed, as applicable.
Uploaded HTML creatives
Uploaded HTML creatives are user-provided files previewed for mockup review. If an uploaded HTML creative references external scripts, images, fonts, tracking URLs, click-through URLs, or other online resources, the browser may request those resources directly from the relevant third-party providers.
Those providers may receive standard network information, including the user’s IP address and request headers. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies. Users should only preview HTML creatives from sources they trust.
Screenshots
When the user clicks the screenshot button, Mock My Ad captures the currently visible browser tab and downloads the screenshot locally to the user’s device. Screenshots are not automatically sent to Programmatic Soup or attached to issue reports.
Issue reports
If the user clicks “Email issue report,” Mock My Ad opens a prefilled email addressed to ibrahim@commonfolkdigital.com. The user can review, edit, or cancel the email before sending.
The prefilled issue report may include:
- User comments
- Current page URL
- Selected slot name, size, type, and confidence score
- Uploaded creative filename and creative type
- Rejected-file name, size, type, rejection reason, and timestamp
- Fit mode and mock label setting
- Number of detected slots
- Extension version
- Browser user agent
- Report timestamp
Issue reports are only sent if the user chooses to send the email. If sent, the report will be processed by the user’s email provider and received by Programmatic Soup for support and troubleshooting.
Remote code
Mock My Ad does not download or execute developer-controlled remote code. Extension scripts, styles, and HTML are packaged with the extension.
User-supplied HTML creatives may contain scripts or references to external resources. These are part of the creative selected by the user and are not extension code supplied by Programmatic Soup.
Data sharing
Programmatic Soup does not sell data processed through Mock My Ad. Programmatic Soup does not use or transfer Mock My Ad data for personalized advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
Information is shared with Programmatic Soup only when the user chooses to send an issue-report email. Third-party providers may separately receive requests initiated by external resources referenced in user-supplied HTML creatives.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from Chrome and websites by Mock My Ad will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Mock My Ad develops. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest revision.
