Can I Run Ads? is a Chrome extension by Programmatic Soup that helps users review public web monetization signals, supply-chain evidence, and potential publisher contact paths on live web pages.
Data processed locally
Can I Run Ads? processes the following information in your browser:
- Active page content and publicly visible page metadata
- Public ad-technology signals detected on the active page
- Public ads.txt files associated with the website being reviewed
- DIRECT seller account records listed in ads.txt files
- Public sellers.json records published by advertising platforms
- Publicly visible publisher advertising or sales contact email addresses
- Public privacy and consent indicators on the page
Can I Run Ads? uses this information only to generate the analysis displayed in the extension, including monetization-readiness signals, supply-chain evidence, and possible publisher contact paths.
Page access
Can I Run Ads? runs when the user opens the extension on an HTTP or HTTPS webpage and starts, or returns to, an analysis. It reviews the active page and related publicly accessible resources required for that analysis.
The extension does not continuously monitor browsing activity in the background. It does not analyse pages when the extension is not being used.
Public web requests
To provide its analysis, Can I Run Ads? may make direct requests from the user’s browser to publicly available resources, including the reviewed website’s ads.txt file and advertising platforms’ public sellers.json files.
These requests are made directly between the user’s browser and the relevant public website or platform. Programmatic Soup does not receive or operate a server for these analysis requests.
Data storage
Can I Run Ads? does not require an account. Analysis results are used to display the current review in the extension. Public seller-file responses may be temporarily cached in the browser to make repeated analysis faster.
The extension does not intentionally collect or store sensitive personal information.
Remote code
Can I Run Ads? does not load developer-hosted remote code. Extension scripts, styles, and HTML are packaged with the extension.
Data sharing
Programmatic Soup does not sell data processed through Can I Run Ads? and does not use it for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.
Can I Run Ads? may link to public third-party resources, including ads.txt files. Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies and practices.
Important limitations
Can I Run Ads? reviews public web information only. Its findings are research signals and are not a guarantee of publisher ownership, inventory quality, policy compliance, consent compliance, traffic quality, brand safety, commercial availability, or buying approval.
