What is CPM?
CPM means cost per mille, or the cost of 1,000 impressions. It is the standard pricing language for much of programmatic display and video buying.
CPM formulas
- CPM = (Cost ÷ Impressions) × 1,000
- Cost = (Impressions × CPM) ÷ 1,000
- Impressions = (Cost × 1,000) ÷ CPM
CPM example
A campaign spends $500 and delivers 100,000 impressions. Its CPM is ($500 ÷ 100,000) × 1,000 = $5.
CPM compares the price of impression delivery, but it does not show whether those impressions were viewable, reached the intended audience or produced an outcome. Use it alongside viewability, engagement and conversion metrics.
Currency conversion
The calculator defaults to USD and supports major APAC currencies. Selecting a non-USD currency displays an indicative USD reference-rate equivalent. Use the campaign’s actual billing currency for financial reconciliation.
